  • A Wednesday question for you.
  • Some thoughts on my walk this morning….
What is powerful coaching for you?
  • I’ve been talking a lot about rest with my leadership & executive clients. What’s your definition of rest? Do you allow yourself to rest? How do you know when it’s time to rest? #leadershipcoaching #executivecoaching #lifecoaching
  • Self-care for myself looks differently in my mid-40’s. I actually call it self-support now because it’s my way to give myself permission to support myself in showing up full of integrity, energy, purpose and love. Changing my language, my self-talk, has been a big game changer for me. Self-care felt indulgent and selfish so I stayed clear of it. This was detrimental to me, especially when hard came my way.

So, I changed my language.

Self-support. That’s my phrase now.

These days, self-support looks like me up-leveling my nutrition, taking these amazing food capsules made by Juice Plus, saying no to foods and drinks that inflame and hurt my body, saying yes to foods that make my body feel good.

Self-support also looks like long walks, being honest with myself and my struggles and also being honest with my closest tribe.

Self-support looks like yoga, stretching, laying flat on the floor focusing on breathing. Sometimes it looks like a run, or jog, or a bike ride.

Self-support looks like reading a fiction book, gardening, reaching out to my best friends, making time for Bible reading, going to bed early, carving out 30 minutes of downtime where I can tap into flow, writing a card to a friend, choosing an outfit that feels fun, putting my phone down for 2 hours, savoring a cup of lavender infused coffee, planning a solo trip to Northern California.

Self-support looks like sitting outside to hear the sounds of spring….

It looks like me hiring my own coach and my own therapist.

Self-support is no longer manicures, pedicures, binging Netflix, dinner parties, going to conferences, going to the gym 3x/week, going on a shopping spree, going out to dinner, etc. Nothing is wrong with any of these things…

BUT, I now know what’s best for supporting myself in my season of life.

My want is for you to explore what is best for you in supporting yourself in your stage in life, in your struggles…all in alignment with what you value.

It’s a beautiful journey in exploring how to care for yourself so that you do have impact with what’s most important to you.
  • Dear women in leadership,

You got this. Even though you may be one of the few females on the executive team, or the only woman, I see you.

You work hard.

You juggle so many things at once.

If you are a mother, you juggle raising your children, supporting your spouse, being the glue of the family, all while working through the guilt of not feeling enough to your children and family.

I see how you navigate carefully the man's world you work in...the comments about being too emotional, or being on "that time of the month", and all the stereotypical comments about being a woman and a leader.

I see all the extra hours you have to put in over your male counterparts.

I see you fighting for the same salary as your male counterpart.

I see you fighting for that title you already earned.

I see how hard it is to dismiss those sexist comments.

I see you looking desperately for female mentors that won't feel that they are in competition with you.

I hear your longing for the women around you to have one another's back, supporting one another, encouraging one another, and building each other up.

I see how much you want to be seen and heard and valued.

I coach women leaders, and this is what I hear a great deal of.

It's lonely at the top for all leaders, but much more for female leaders.

If you need a space to be seen and heard and empowered, I have your back. I love to work with women in leadership, especially minority women.

I am a Mexican-American woman married into a Chinese-American family. I know first-hand on what it is to be a minority woman and a leader. I know what you are up against. I also know how to partner with you to break through with a powerful mindset, the best tools for the inner critic, and a shift in narrative to get you through the rough patches where you will thrive, you will lead, you will make an impact, and you will be a catalyst for change.
